Our Story

Our restaurant is located in Woolwich, ME, just on the Wiscasset line and 6 miles north of the infamous Kennebec River on the coastal corridor of beautiful Mid-coast Maine. This historic property continues to be currently operated as a restaurant offering year round dining by our friendly team of hospitality professionals who are excited to show you how we make the difference.

Our guest first attitude has created a happy place for locals and visitors alike to relax and indulge. We make everyone feel right at home in our vintage, old school property that we are continually improving, paying close attention to cleanliness, service, and details.

Our ServSafe Certified team of Culinary professionals take great pride in preparing each meal to order from scratch, with fresh quality ingredients. Our full service bar and pub area provides a great place to gather with friends or to make new ones while enjoying our many local microbrew drafts or signature cocktails.

Meet Our Team

Fernando Ferreira

Executive Chef | General Manager

Chef Fernando Ferreira, born in Uruguay, cultivated his culinary skills from childhood, mastering pasta-making, sauce creation, and grilling techniques under his family's guidance. After relocating to Venezuela in 1973, he further honed his craft while working at some of Caracas' finest restaurants, exploring Cajun cuisine and Swiss gastronomy during his travels. With a Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, Chef Ferreira embarked on a journey that led him to esteemed kitchens worldwide, including the Grand Bay Hotel in Miami and notable roles in Memphis, Tennessee.
Returning to Miami, Chef Ferreira launched Flame Cafe and Grill, captivating diners with his innovative Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. His culinary prowess earned him the role of Executive Corporate Chef for a restaurant group in Raleigh, North Carolina, overseeing multiple establishments. Today, Chef Ferreira brings his wealth of experience and expertise to The Montsweag in Woolwich, Maine, where he continues to delight patrons with his culinary creativity and passion for the art of cooking.
